prostate diagnostic tools
Our scientific team has invented and developed a novel ‘proteomics’ based technology and DNA array technology that enables the rapid identification/cloning of functionally important "marker" genes that are critical to cancer cell growth and survival. The proteomics discovery technology, diagnostic marker, and ‘DNA ZYM’ therapeutic agents are covered by a patent filing that incorporates 188 claims. These claims include:
  • PCADM-1 DNA binding sequence
  • Novel PCADM-1 gene
  • PCADM-1 antibodies and immunoassays on human and non-human specimens with PCADM-1 antibodies ‘PCADM-1 DNA ZYM-1P’ and applications in treating human cancer
  • A novel proteomics discovery platform for screening DNA sequences and identifying novel proteins

Marker proteins are generated from cDNA expression libraries developed using mRNA from specific cancer tissue sites of interest (either from normal, pre-malignant, and/or malignant foci of the same patient tissue for the comparative screening assays). The application helps to identify multiple diagnostic marker proteins whose expression is associated with a specific stage of disease. As a result, MacroArray is well positioned to develop ‘panels’ of diagnostic markers for staging cancer continue to develop new markers for other disease indications in the future.

The scientific team continues to improve this discovery technology and has reduced the discovery cycle for a given gene/protein from two years to approximately six months.
